Great book! Though I must say, the book follows a couple of well-known formulas or tropes well-known to horror fans, esp to fans of low-budget horror movies. That said, the writing in superb, and character development is excellent (…for the male characters, at least:( And it brings a good deal of originality to the tropes it reproduces.
*MILD SPOILERS: Regarding the tropes or formulas, I’m thinking of films ranging from Val Lewton’s ‘Ghost Ship’ to the ‘Final Destination’ series. And the other trope dates back to the original Godzilla movie, at least, and could be found in many American drive-ins during the 1970s and very early 1980s.
