Putin is a hero….to a great many Russians. Ukraine is none of your damn business yankee, but regime change and resource stealing is what all empires do The American empire is desperate (and broke) BRICS and their new allies are doing an end around on the empire managers and as soon as the US loses it’s reserve currency privilege it’s game over for them. Fallen USA 2020’s will make the great depression look like a picnic. Get ready to say bye bye to all your unearned privileges and have to compete on an even playing field.
Personally I love Putin and think he is a hero of the modern world. Americans house is so disorder it makes their global criminal meddling that much more funny.
Even if the Americans get boots on the ground in Russia and manage to steal some of their resources - oh that Putin gots plenty of oil America needs so they can keep driving 9 miles across town in their 6500lb Dodge Rams to pick up their favorite doughnuts.
Get your walking shoes on fat Americans. Happy motoring days are near their end. You will not steal Russian resources this time. How many trillion$ did the empire blow in Afghanistan? That’s a lot to pay just to embarrass the dying empire
Am I the only one to notice the full court press when all of a sudden thousands of media mouths, anchors, reporters, endless ‘panels of experts” start saying “Our Democracy” 100 times a day each. In between saying “Putin Bad”.

Russia is not just a baby beginning to walk. Enough to remember genocide of stalinist regime (for example Katyn massacre). Putin’s army at the beginning of his power murdered around 200 000 chechen civilians.

“dumb” - Anna_batista. Some headline issues: Russia’s crimes against humanity - in addition to the current & previous invasions - the Holodomor against Ukraine.
Also, the Kazakh genocide murdered more than a quarter of the republic’s population.
Probably 7 million, and likely in excess of that number (up to 8.7 m), human beings starved and murdered in planned famines.
Moreover, enslaving, torturing & making war upon its own population & that of its brutalised empire. As many as 20-25 million people murdered.

Stalinist Russia is not Modern Russia. Putin is as responsible for the horrors of the great famine between the world wars as Biden is for the genocide of the Native American people.
There is a lot more to the current Ukranian conflict than most here realise.Maybe they should read about the Minsk agreement, the coup of 2014 in Maidan and the part played by the US and Nuland in particular. The West is playing a dangerous game, pushing Putin by continually supplying Ukraine with weapons. As usual, the Military industrial complex will fight to the last remaining foreigner in order to enrich itself further.

“Putin is as responsible…” - Immediate straw man; what the commenter cited was Russia as an entity; specifically concerning the history of “atrocities around the world Russia is just a baby beginning to walk.” So, the clear continuing context of its history & tradition of atrocities.
Individually, Putin as dictator is only responsible for Russian atrocities over the course of the last 23 years. These include Chechnya, Syria, Ukraine, forceful annexation, internal Russian repression, treatment of gay people, human rights violations, poisonings (both foreign & domestic), murders & suppression of political opponents & journalists, etc. etc.
“The West is playing a dangerous game” - Comparable to invading neighbouring countries, committing mass murder, multiple grotesque human rights abuses & indiscriminately targeting civilians?
“pushing Putin” - Pushing a terrorist, brutal tyrant & mass murderer?
“to enrich itself further” - Yeah, better not mention how Putin & his cronies have financially ridden the country up & down, with corruption on an unimaginable scale. Putin’s net worth is in excess of $70 billion - on an annual salary of $140,000. He must be one hell of an aggressive saver, eh?

Even without the well underway existential threat of catastrophic runaway climate change, the humans are unlikely to make it out of this century due to all the other predicaments and problems that fall under the gargantuan OVERSHOOT category.
I think many are aware that a hellish future awaits. This probably accounts for why ever greater numbers of people whose houses are almost completely out of order are distracting themselves by spending all their time yelling about everyone else’s house being disordered or a thousand other distractions.
Face it. The humans can’t deal and will soon be going bye bye. All the ways I’ve long been warning of may not come to pass. Not because we will address them, that’s all but meaningless now, rather because we will have a nuclear war followed by years of nuclear winter and starvation.

Contrary to what you ass-ert, you do care - to the point of Putin love & brute power worship, at least. You don’t care about tribalism, but have the standard, predictable internet tribal reaction against America. If you’re just hard for power, why not worship America instead of Putin? Especially if it makes no difference?
European countries are trying to take in as many refugees as possible - we’re doing that here in the middle of an unprecedented housing crisis, because people’s lives are a little more important than parochial concerns. I have to admit, I didn’t factor in the quality of poon to be procured, but everyone’s got their own perspective.
When a country appeals for help in such dire circumstances, it’s not much use to get on the phone & start dubiously preaching to them about categories of “gargantuan OVERSHOOT.” Quite apart from anything else, it just doesn’t work. Ashtray on motorbike territory.
So, you contend that not helping & not caring operates to make the world a better place then?

Two, if there was a coup in 2014 that would imply that the current regime seized power by force, and that the people prefer the Russian puppet who was there before. Are they acting like they’re being liberated from an oppressor?
