Since its first publication in 1995, Lies My Teacher Told Me has become one of the most important - and successful - history books of our time. Hell, I just want a definition of what a woman is.

Before defining what is or is not a woman, define a man. The same problems crop up if trying to use anatomy as the basis. Using chromosomes doesn’t work either since you can be XY or XXY, where one manifests as the “typical” male and the other likely forced at birth to conform (by surgical mutilation on a newborn) to the body of a “typical” female but still has the Y chromosome. Is it “being the man of the house”? Is it “being a man” and providing for a family? Is it “being a man” and ‘protecting’ said family? Women fulfill these roles just as often. Perhaps define whether someone is a man or a woman based on whether you can fall in love with them. Your sexuality will define ‘man’ and ‘woman’ for you without your brain even having to think about it. Or…you can do the revolutionary thing and just ask them what pronouns they prefer and take the ambiguity out of it.

Forget your teachers I’d be worried about lies your politicians tell you, Fox News tells you, hate radio tells you and the internet tells you. I admit there is a certain nostalgic quaintness about this new edition. A throwback to a simpler more innocent time when textbooks got a few things wrong.

@Malachie520: I am going with Occam’s razor here. There are only two genders and sex is just another word for gender. Chemical and physical castration cannot be the solution for people who “feel” they are in the wrong body. It is not revolutionary to entertain people who feel everybody owes them something.
