what a joke. I don’t doubt people experience NDE but there is not proof it is of afterlife. Similarly, are 1.5 million people who have alien abduction experiences but no evidence those are really alien kidnappings. I think I will pass.

Yup so true, people do have NDEs but all that proves is.. that people have NDEs not anything religious or supernatural. Neil Tyson does a great job debunking why “eye witness” testimony is such a poor indicator of anything scientific and why they can’t prove that NDEs are evidence of an afterlife. Same thing with alien abduction as stated above by shanemp. Anyone who is supposed to be a scientist should be ashamed of themselves publishing this sort of religious dogma masquerading as hard science even if there is a small veneer of agnosticism.
If you want to have this sort of experience it’s much easier with a high dose of LSD and the right “set and setting” then having to almost die. Are those experiences proof of god? To the person experiencing it, it’s real and meaningful. Just like in this book the institutions studying psychedelics have a survey with a point scale that says if the participant had a mystical experience. Whether it’s psychedelics or NDEs a survey can only show a person’s subjective interpretation not any sort of objective truth or quantifiable fact.
