Callous Disregard - Autism and Vaccines, The Truth Behind a Tragedy - Andrew Wakefield, MD
Shared by:spyprettygirl
As Andrew Wakefield states in his prologue, “If autism does not affect your family now, it will. If something does not change—and change soon—this is almost a mathematical certainty. This book affects you also. It is not a parochial look at a trivial medical spat in the United Kingdom, but dispatches from the battlefront in a major confrontation—a struggle against compromise in medicine, corruption of science, and a real and present threat to children in the interests of policy and profit. It is a story of how ‘the system’ deals with dissent among its doctors and scientists.”
In the pursuit of possible links between childhood vaccines, intestinal inflammation, and neurologic injury in children, Wakefield lost his job in London’s Royal Free Hospital, his country of birth, his career, and his medical license. A recent General Medical Council ruling stated that he was “dishonest, irresponsible and showed callous disregard for the distress and pain of children.” Maligned by the medical establishment and mainstream media, Wakefield endeavors to set the record straight in Callous Disregard. While explaining what really happened, he calls out the organizations and individuals that are acting not for the sake of children affected by autism, but in their own self-interests.

This guy is causing actual harm.

Wakefield is not just a loonie, he’s caused disease outbreaks with his scaremongering.

Andrew Wakefield, coauthor of a now notorious 1998 study, published in the Lancet, that suggested a possible link between autism, gastrointestinal disease (it was Wakefield who coined the term “autistic enterocolitis”, which Krigsman diagnoses in the Autism Team trailer), and the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. Afterwards, Wakefield called for the suspension of the triple jab, which caused widespread panic and is said by his critics to have resulted in a drop in the number of parents choosing to vaccinate their children. Cases of measles rose from 56 in 1998 to nearly 1,400 in 2008. In 2006, a 13-year-old boy became the first person in more than a decade to die of the disease in Britain.

A truly despicable individual and a very dangerous one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Wakefield

He is no longer an MD and has not been since 24 May 2010 when his name was struck off the UK medical register by the GMC. This garbage was released on the same day as his hearing.
No that he ever was a true practitioner of medicine~ when one causes so much suffering and even the death of a young child, by his bull-shit study.
Even now there are a lot of rubbish research papers published in medical journals. You have to know what to read really, and not blindly follow something you don’t understand.

Well said everyone. I concur and would like to add that anyone can pay to get their papers published in some medical publications however the only ones worth reading are peer reviewed.

Just want to clear something up for the record, smugalugs. Because conspiracy theorist types seize on tiny little mistakes and blow them up into something else.
Wakefield was published in Lancet, which is a big-name journal. He didn’t just pay to have some crap study published in a little rag. But even extremely reputable, peer-reviewed journals can be susceptible to out-and-out lying. You can look over a person’s methodology, interpretation of the results, etc., but you don’t expect that they’d simply make things up. So you can be duped when that’s the case.
There is plenty of criticism to be lobbied towards Lancet. I’m not absolving them of anything. They screwed up. But Wakefield didn’t disclose the fact that he’d been paid by a firm preparing to sue vaccine companies. That failure to disclose alone is a gigantic ethical breach, and it’s safe to assume the reviewers would’ve been more keen to look for falsified data had they known that information.
(So not criticizing you or anything, and your point is completely valid. Just don’t want people seizing on how that doesn’t apply in this particular case and spinning it into a defense of Wakefield.)

How the hell is this in the “Science” section? This belongs to religion or mystery sections.
March 7th, 2016
This guy espouses harmful rhetoric. What he says has been disproved by actual scientists. Just because there’s an MD after his name does not make him qualified to instruct in the way he does.
I agree, this does not belong in the science category…

You are actually talking while knowing nothing.
Just read the details of his story and what he had to go trough (together with his patients) and then judge.
Then try to get all the details of the trial that led to his revocal of MD.
Otherwise you can ignore all that and just buy the prepackaged story pushed by mainstream, no worry then.

So you are suggesting we disregard the information already in the public domain in favour of an account by the person in question?
As for getting hold of the details of the GMC hearing which struck him off….no problem - link to transcripts of all 60 days can be found below.
